President's Corner
President Bobby Joseph reports on foundation and district matters, the drive for twenty more members and the January 16 face-to-face lunch at The Heritage Hotel Manila.
Dear Fellow Manila Rotarians and Guests,
Good afternoon. Welcome to our RCM Weekly Meeting on Zoom. We see more activities ahead of us in our outreach projects with RCM and with Rotary District 3810. Yesterday, we had the Sagip Kabataan Foundation, Inc. Meeting where the Board of Trustees approved to undergo the legal process of folding this foundation and convert this into a committee under the umbrella of the RCManila Foundation, Inc.
At present, there is a search for the next District Governor to be elected who will take the helm during RY 2023-2024. They are LILIAN “LAI” H. DE LA CRUZ and EDWIN SEYMOUR FONG KUAN CHIU. Their resumés will be sent to the Board and we shall decide whom we will favor. Rotary International will organize the online voting.
We encourage members to attend webinars initiated by the Rotary District as they are helpful. Please contact our secretaries to assist you. As Rotarians, join the weekly club meetings through Zoom and meet other Rotarians by representing the Rotary Club of Manila. In fact, you can visit other clubs worldwide and make friends globally. You can be one of our Ambassadors. If you want to find out more information about RCM, please write the Board. You may contact Anna and email us your queries.
Keep life straight and simple. I encourage all our RCM members to invite a friend to join Rotary. Please let us know if you would like to refer a potential member. We are more than willing to assist and share some updates on the benefits of being a Rotarian. Our aim is to have twenty (20) more members. Help us achieve our goal and get younger members for our Club.
Last Saturday, we had twenty-five (25) guests over lunch. It was a face-to-face meeting applying all safety protocols at The Heritage Hotel Manila in Pasay City. Present were two Past District Governors, Board Members, Executive Officers, Star Rotarians and our staff. Every RCM member shared their sentiments and plans. It was a resounding success! We shall have another one next Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 5:00 pm for heavy cocktail food. I hope you can make it.
In life, we cannot please everybody. More so, if you have to carry out basic rules. At times, we need to be a disruptor, a catalyst of change and go for ideas that require moral leadership. A change for the right reason has to happen. We joined a service organization that has attained respect and credibility. We cannot turn our backs from the truth and allow things to go haywire for the sake of our friendship. The Four-Way Test has to prevail in the things we think, say or do.
'Til next week... Maraming Salamat.
Your Servant President, Robert “Bobby” Lim Joseph, Jr. President RY 2020-2021 (101st President)
