President’s Corner

President Bobby Joseph reports on prospective members, a twinning agreement with the Rotary Club of Washington D.C., and the club’s awards programs.

Dear Colleagues in RCM,

I am praying that everyone is fine and safe during the pandemic. We were so blessed in attending the Holy Mass celebrated by Pope Francis in honor of the 500 Years of Christianity in our country through CNN Philippines.

We have eleven (11) prospective leaders in their own rights who are at the last phase of the process for membership. We are also awaiting for another four (4) who will be submitting their resumes for acceptance of the Board before they are endorsed to the Membership Committee. Once approved, it reverts back to the Board. Then, after, it goes to the Classification Committee. Thereafter, once classified, they will undergo Rotary Briefing and a ten day notice. After dues are paid, they will be scheduled to be inducted and after the induction, they become full fledged members of the Rotary Club of Manila.

A Twinning Agreement with the Rotary Club of Washington D.C. and the Rotary Club of Manila will be signed next month. Twin clubs are closer than sister clubs as there is a commitment to pursue different projects and cooperation between the two clubs. This is under the Circle of Centennial Rotary Clubs led by IPP Jackie Rodriguez.

We received a formal notification that our Ambassador to the USA and Rotary Club of Manila PVP Babe Romualdez will be attending the formal signing of the Twinning Agreement. He further agreed to be the Special Guest of Honor during the membership meeting of the Rotary Club of Washington D.C. and will accept the Honorary Membership to be bestowed on him. This is another feather in the history of the Rotary Club of Manila during our term.

Another project in the making in cooperation with JCI Makati led by 2021 LO President and STAR Rtn. Lance Tan and the undersigned for the supply of solar lights to be distributed to a small community in Marawi. Our logo will be included as co-sponsor during the event. A Php 100,000 donation will be deposited to their account. RCM funds are not sourced as the participation fee is donated. Mabuhay ang RCM and JCI Makati!

We are busy with the TOWER Awards, the RCM Ambassador Award, Journalism Awards and RCM Outstanding Athlete Awards. We are working on the official titles to be approved by the Board after today’s Weekly Membership Meeting. We will have the Seventeenth (17th) Tourism Awards before June.

Thank you so much for all the help and understanding of the Transformational Team and the new members whom we have proudly invited to join RCM during the 102nd year of RCM. There are more activities to come in the remaining months of my term.

Maraming salamat.

Your Servant,

Robert “Bobby” Lim Joseph, Jr. President RY 2020-2021 (101st President)
