Outgoing President’s Corner

Dear Colleagues in RCM,

It has been an amazing, unforgettable, rewarding, meaningful—although challenging—year for all of us at the Rotary Club of Manila. And nothing—not even the pandemic—can stop us from achieving our mission, as we were able to accomplish so much and help so many. I thank the Transformational Team—the Board Members, Officers and Advisers—and everyone who helped to make things happen!

RY 2020-2021 gave us so many opportunities to serve and share, allowing Service Above self to always inspire us. We are all given a mission to serve and care, and I am thankful that many of us heard the calling. I believe we are here on earth to be givers, and I am glad that many of us embrace the joy of giving. Imagine, if we all give, we don’t have to give so much as individuals, as our individual contribution, when added together, would be in millions and would help alleviate the condition of many people in our community, in our country. We've come so far, but we still have so much to do and so many people to help – sick children in the hospital, hungry kids in the streets and orphanages, and the countless victims of pandemic. As Rotarians who care and share, there is always something we can do to help others.

Congratulations to all of us for winning the “Most Outstanding Club - Overall”. To get this recognition out of the 117 Clubs in District 3810 is something to be proud of and grateful for. This award is in recognition of the many Club projects implemented during Rotary Year 2020-2021 which have helped and touched many lives. Among the awards received by RCM were Best in Livelihood Project, Best in Promoting Peace Project, Best in Fighting Disease Project, Best in Providing Clean Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Project, Best in Saving Mothers and Children Project, Best in Growing Local Economies Project, Best in Protecting Environment Project, Best in Medical and Dental Mission, Best Earlyact Program, Best Interact Program, Participation in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), Best in Twin Club Project (Local and Foreign Sister Clubs), Best in Polio Plus, Highest in The Rotary Foundation Contribution (Absolute), Highest in Membership Increase (Absolute), Best in Global Grant Project, Best Club Bulletin, Best Rotary in Humanity in Motion, Best Rotary Club in Media Coverage, and Outstanding in Humanitarian Service Award (COVID-related project).

Lastly, I would like to thank Rotary International District 3810 Governor Odie Tarriela and fellow Rotarians who believed in me and recognized my contributions and leadership. I am honored to receive the “Most Outstanding Club President – Overall” during the District Awards Night last June 26, 2021.

Once again, thank you for your tremendous support and hard work during my term as Transformational President. Let us continue to inspire and be a blessing to one another. Let us continue to serve and share. God bless us all as we move forward to the next Rotary Year.

Your Servant, Outgoing President, Robert “Bobby” Lim Joseph Jr., Transformational President RY 2020-2021 (101st President)
