RCM Viber Groups and Their Uses

President Zaldarriaga announces five official RCM Viber groups and a Code of Conduct for their use, to be monitored by the Sergeant-at-Arms Team.

Dear Fellow Rotarians,

The Sergeant-at-Arms Team has proposed a way to efficiently convey to the membership the notices of our Programs Committee and Club Project Updates as well as to organize social chat amongst members, including membership concerns, and best wishes/messages of sympathy in the properly assigned chat groups. In this regard, RCM will now manage 5 Official Viber Groups which include:

1. membership meetings;

2. RCM SOCIAL CHAT/MEMBERSHIP CONCERNS (formerly MEMBERS’ CONCERNS): This will provide RCM members a chance for relevant social networking/non-political amongst members and provide an opportunity to respectively voice RCM concerns;

3. RCM SYMPATHIES – Messages of Condolences. To update the membership of Fellow Rotarians who have left this earthly journey, and to assure the bereaved family left behind that we, like brothers, are here to give comfort with our moral support in the RCM Sympathies Group;

4. RCM BEST WISHES – Birthday Greetings, Inspirational Messages, Get Well Soon. To convey our warmest felicitations to fellow members who are celebrating birthdays, anniversaries or new achievements in business, government appointments or notable undertakings in their civic works through the RCM Well Wishes Group;

5. RCM GENERAL INFORMATION/ANNOUNCEMENTS - General RCM, District and RI Information, to share an invitation to participate in RCM Projects and sharing of business events that may be helpful in our business dealings or invitations from fellow Rotary clubs, both local and overseas. This group should be project-related and cater to district or RI news.

Let us encourage one another to follow this RCM Viber Groups’ Code of Conduct concerning the use of the Club’s Official Viber groups:

Each one is earnestly requested to refrain from verbally attacking, criticizing or hurling insults towards a fellow Manila Rotarian. As gentlemen of high moral standing and upright character, each one is earnestly requested to refrain from washing dirty linen in Viber groups of public nature such as, but not limited to the Viber groups of our club.

Each one is earnestly requested to refrain from making negative comments with respect to race, religion, gender and not to engage in political discussions / arguments.

Each one is earnestly requested to refrain from posting the same message in multiple Viber Groups.

When making remarks, make sure the same is in the English language with due respect to the foreign members of the club.

Needless to mention, let us earnestly live by and be faithful to the Four Way Test as Rotarians. The RCM Viber Groups’ Code of Conduct will be monitored and enforced by the Sergeant-at-Arms Team. All necessary disciplinary actions will be forwarded and endorsed by the RCM Board of Directors.

Let us all be instruments of membership development and beacons of Rotary congeniality worthy of emulation by other Rotary clubs in our enduring role as stalwarts of the First Rotary Club in Asia.

Thank you for your kind indulgence on this matter.

Yours in the service of Rotary, Chito
