Profile of STAR Rtn. Caloy Serapio

Managing Partner of the Serapio and De Castro Law Office, Classification: Law Practice – Litigation.

Carlos Gelacio Serapio could have donned the priestly flock by his lifetime commitment to the Christian Ministry but for the fact that the LAW has been his mistress all along. He authored ‘Christianism’: A Philosophical Guide to Political Praxis. A true blue lawyer who has been granted a Coat of Arms “A Deo Lux Nostra” by the Royal College of Arms (2008) he studied law at the premier University of the Philippines and was admitted to the bar in 1976.

Atty. Serapio credits however, his initial love and loyalty to the Catholic Faith to his schooling at the St. James Academy, a MaryKnoll- sisters run school in Malabon, where he completed his grade school and high school studies, with the distinction of ‘Most Outstanding Student’ in the secondary level. Yet the additional foundation built into his intellectual reservoir was provided by the Ateneo Jesuits whose Ignatian Recollections fused with strict Academics further honed his skills finishing college as a Dean’s lister with an A.B. Political Science degree.

He became an avowed member and officer of the Student Catholic Action becoming eventually the Secretary-General of the National Student Catholic Action of the Philippines. As a Marian devotee, he was a founding partner of the Magnificat Movement and currently a Trustee of the Pueblo Maria Marian Mariological Society of the Philippines – PAMMMS Phil.

He also represented the Ateneo in a Seminar Course at the Keio University (ISSK), Tokyo, Japan. He was a U.S. Information Service Grantee for a short leadership and special studies program in the Sangamon College of the University of Illinois, USA. He continues to be involved in socio-political events and groups that espouse genuine reform in all areas of Philippine society.
