Past President’s Time: Domingo “Boy” S. Guevara Jr.

Profile of PP Boy Guevara Jr., president of the Rotary Club of Manila in RY 1996-1997 and Chairman Emeritus of Radiowealth Finance Corporation.

With a new year ushering in the beginning of a new chapter, it is, but, timely, that we take a trip down memory lane in the progressive mid-'90s of Asia's First Rotary Club as our very own Finance and Vehicle Mogul relays fond memories of a glorious past during his sojourn at the helm of Service Above Self, resurrecting vignettes of past in preserving a culture that is truly sui generis, a class of its own.

IV. Major Accomplishments

1. Successfully steered the original DMG, Inc. (VOLKSWAGEN REPRESENTATIVE) as the only 100% Pilipino Car Company participant in the Progressive Car Manufacturing Program in the 60s

2. Organized the first and original Jeep Int’l distributor in the Philippines

3. Organized the first importer & distributor of the Case Tractors and earth moving equipment in the country

4. Co-chaired the successful takeover of Ysmael Steel Complex in early mid-seventy

5. Organized & led the “TURISMO PILIPINO” motoring event in 1969. This was the first successful commercial motoring event wherein 2 VW Beetles & a SAKBAYAN were driven non-stop from Zamboanga City to Aparri & to Manila

6. First Pilipino to win the First Manila Auto Grand Prix in 1969

7. Organized & led the only CAR-A-VAN around the world (in 79 days) using the first designed and fabricated Pilipino car (SAKBAYAN) in 1970

8. Pioneered and introduced creative innovations in the fabrication of ARTISTIC ORNAMENTAL PLANTS for export and local market under the brand of TREE’S COMPANY

9. Co-managed the first and only successful rehabilitation of a major finance company
