President’s Corner

Greetings my RCM brothers!

What a way to start the year! This variant has taken everyone by surprise and we cling to the Almighty’s presence to tide us over this.

There are some quarters who insinuate that this is the final solution towards herd immunity. Several medical authority sources have debunked this concept and it is still better to be on the safe side.

I strongly suggest that everyone continue abiding by necessary protocols.

As of this writing, I have some good news. Our baby Kit whose open heart surgery procedure we sponsored is finally home. Over the holidays, this precious child spent his days in the ICU, in and out of the OR, going through critical and very delicate medical procedures. Initiated by PP Ebot Tan, the funding of this endeavor was taken cared of by the RCManila Foundation, Inc. At some point, we had a shortage of a substantive amount to cover before the procedure could be done and one of us committed to cover whatever the shortage was, just to proceed with the life changing and very necessary procedure. The costs were escalating and I spoke to Rtn. Jun Aventura of the Philippine Heart Center who helped us with the administrative challenges of the boy’s case. It was touch and go because the doctors had to do a second round of critical procedure. In the end, by God’s grace, the boy is now home and recuperating quite well.

Today, we are delighted to have one of the pillars of this club, PP Boy Guevarra to deliver his Past President’s Time. We are all excited to hear this remarkable RCMer share with us his rich experiences with the Rotary Club of Manila!

While we have done an initial salvo in helping the Typhoon ODETTE victims, we are gearing up to do a second wave this time through the RCManila Foundation, Inc. so we have better fiduciary efficiencies. Abangan!

Gentlemen, please be reminded of our goal to boost our membership, EACH ONE, BRING ONE!
