2024 TOWER Awards

As an annual and institutional project, the Rotary Club of Manila once again spearheaded the conferment of The Outstanding Workers of the Republic (TOWER) Awards, with the ceremony held at the Malacanang Palace, and with the ceremony graced by President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. and senior government officials, including Department of Labor Secretary Benny Laguesma, himself a former RCMer.

2024 TOWER Awards

The TOWER Awards, founded in 1975 by Asia’s First Club, has now become an iconic event, and has morphed into an opportunity, a venue, for other civic organizations and even the government itself to honor and pay tribute to well deserving members of the workforce. As mentioned, this year’s awarding ceremony was held at the Presidential Palace and has been integrated into President Marcos Jr.’s labor day (May 1) itinerary. Indeed, the search for and granting of awards to our country’s deserving and unsung heroes is a sublime way of espousing a culture of recognition. In a world dominated by social media where every other person posts self-promoting videos and write-ups, it is a breath of fresh air to highlight and recognize truly meaningful, patriotic and heroic contributions of real, everyday people; and in the case of TOWER Awards, the non-supervisory blue-collar and white-collar workers.

This is the essence of this long-standing RCM project, which is to give due recognition and set the spotlight on an organization’s model employees -- not because they crave or need it, but because they deserve it. The recognition and prestige given to a deserving everyday worker through the TOWER Awards definitely helps them see that society values their industry and dedication, as well as their role and contribution to the success of a mission or undertaking. It helps these deserving workers build a sense of security in their value not only to the company they work for, but to society at large. The award will certainly motivate them to keep up their good work.

Congratulations to this year’s recipients of the TOWER Awards, and kudos to the organizing committee, as well as RCM’s partners in this worthy project.
