Message from RCM President Rafael M. Alunan III

The Rotary Club of Manila is proud to present this year’s awardees of The Outstanding Workers of the Republic (TOWER) Awards. RC Manila extends its gratitude to His Excellency Ferdinand “Bong Bong” R. Marcos, President of the Republic of the Philippines, for opening the hallowed halls of Malacanan to honor the 13 outstanding individuals from the labor sector. The Awards recognize the outstanding performance of rank-and-file workers and associates, the unsung heroes of the workplace, whose unselfish contribution has provided economic benefit to the family and the community at large.

We are grateful to our predecessors Past District Governor (then incumbent president) Teofilo “Fil” Reyes with Past President Alberto “Bert” Romulo (then incumbent club secretary) in Rotary Year 1975-1976, who initiated the recognition award. It coincided with RC Manila’s Diamond Charter Anniversary. The TOWER Awards was launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Labor now the Department of Labor and Employment. It quickly became one of the highlights during the celebration of Labor Day. It merited the issuance of Presidential Proclamation No. 1728, declaring April 24-30 of each year as Employer-Employee Week in the Philippines. This was accomplished in Rotary Year 1977-1978 during the presidency of Rev. Fr. Frank G. Reyes.

TOWER AWARDS 2024 is grateful for the unwavering logistical support of the Department of Labor and Employment, the professional meritable labor evaluation performance by the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP), the funding support of the San Miguel Corporation and the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).
