38th Weekly Membership Meeting: A Recap

Program Moderator

Sec. Edwin Hernandez was the week’s Program Moderator who efficiently navigated the sequence of the meeting. He began by inviting Manila Rotarians to be seated to allow the meeting to officially commence.

Call to Order

Pres. Rafael “Raffy” M. Alunan III called the 38th weekly membership meeting to order.

Invocation

With a beautifully composed prayer, Rtn. Carlos “Caloy” Serapio led the invocation that set the tone of the meeting.

Philippine National Anthem

Rotary Members and guests took a position of respect as they sang the Philippine National Anthem.

Four-Way Test

Rotarians were again reminded of their commitment to live by the Four-Way Test, with the recitation of this mantra led by Rtn. Philip Recto.

Welcome Song

In keeping with tradition, the guests were serenaded by the World-Famous RCM Chorale with the Club’s signature welcome song.

President’s Time

Pres. Raffy Alunan welcomed all members and guests. He initially stated that he chose this date (May 16) when he invited Ambassador Fluss, in connection with Israel’s Independence Day, which is May 15, 1948. President Raffy then provided an update on the forthcoming celebration of RCM’s 105th anniversary, chaired by VP Reggie Yu. He mentioned that the event still needs additional funding for its successful staging. He invited and encouraged the present members at the meeting to invite more friends and bring their families as well. Lastly, he thanked those who consistently attend the weekly meetings and asked them to stand and be applauded.

Rtn. Raymond “Ray” Davis introduced the guest speaker.

Ambassador Ilan Fluss delivered his informative and insightful talk, which was much appreciated by the Rotarians and guests who were present.

Token of Appreciation

Amb. Ilan Fluss received RCM’s Plaque of Appreciation, which was witnessed by Sec. Edwin H. Hernandez, Rtn. Raymond Davis, Pres. Rafael “Raffy” Alunan, Rtn. Carlos “Caloy” G. Serapio, and Rtn. Philip H. Recto.

After thanking the guest speaker and all attendees, the meeting was adjourned by Pres. Rafael “Raffy” Alunan.
