RC Manila Signs MOA with RC South San Francisco and RC Manila South to Fight HPV / Cervical Cancer
Through Awareness Programs and Vaccination Initiatives

Earlier this year, the Rotary Club of Manila signed a tripartite Memorandum of Agreement with the Rotary Clubs of South San Francisco and Manila South to create programs focused on HPV / Cervical cancer awareness and education, eventually leading to vaccination and grant creation.
With funding from the RCSSF Foundation, an original program was created by Frontline Production, Inc. titled Ka.SEEN.halaga (HPV, Out!). This program addresses the facts, issues, and challenges related to HPV and its associated diseases, which tragically lead to a mortality rate of around 50% among those affected in the Philippines. The work was premiered on July 14, 2024 at the RCBC Plaza Forum before an audience of 300.

The performance piece utilizes theatre arts to underscore the importance of prevention, vaccination, and early detection via screening for individuals as early as 9 years of age, as well as stress the value of family support. Beginning in September, this work will be made available to schools and college campuses. It will also provide entry points for those wishing to be vaccinated as RCM and its partners lead this important preventive healthcare campaign in the Philippines.
