Jose Arnulfo "Wick" Veloso

Jose Arnulfo "Wick" Veloso is a highly respected banker with 40 years of experience in banking and finance. He’s a recipient of the outstanding alumnus award from the De La Salle University in 2021. Before becoming the President and General Manager of GSIS, he led Philippine National Bank as its President and CEO and was also the first Filipino CEO of HSBC Philippines. Under his leadership, HSBC and PNB earned prestigious awards, including the Best Global Bank Award, Best Debt Capital Bank Award, from The Asset, and Best CEO Response to COVID-19 from the Asian Banker.

Since assuming office as PGM of GSIS in 2022, he has strongly advocated for digital transformation to make services faster, more efficient, and more accessible to members. His goal has always been to provide a seamless customer experience —one where members and pensioners can complete transactions quickly and conveniently. With this, GSIS has strengthened its online platforms, digital payment channels, and automated processing systems to minimize paperwork and reduce the need for in-person visits.

Side by side with the push for digitalization, GSIS achieved significant financial growth under the leadership of PGM Wick Veloso, driven by strategic investments, efficient insurance operations, and a well-balanced portfolio that ensures both stability and long-term sustainability. His prudent financial management and commitment to digital transformation have strengthened GSIS’s services, expanded member benefits, and reinforced its role in national development.

As the Chairman of the USD 1.3 trillion combined funds under management of the ASEAN Social Security Association (ASSA), he continues to champion progress and regional cooperation while reinforcing GSIS’s role in supporting national development.
