President’s Message

WHILE Manila Rotarians gather at the Manila Polo Club for the weekly meeting on October 2, a delegation of about 11 RCMers will be in Osaka to meet and bond with a sister club – the Rotary Club of Osaka East (RCOE).

As we are all aware, Rotary is a story of friendship, service, and the power of human connection. This beautiful feature of Rotary is exemplified by the enduring bond between RCM, which is Asia’s first, and RCOE, one of Japan’s most dynamic and service-driven clubs. What began as a partnership rooted in Rotary ideals has blossomed over the years into a profound and lasting friendship, nurtured by shared values, mutual respect, and a common vision of service above self.

From the earliest exchanges, members of both clubs placed importance on fellowship visits. Delegations traveled miles to meet, carrying with them not only gifts and tokens of goodwill but also stories, laughter, and shared dreams. These visits soon became a cherished tradition, with Manila Rotarians warmly received in Osaka, and their Japanese counterparts welcomed in Manila. Such exchanges deepened cultural appreciation and created bonds of friendship that endured across generations of Rotarians.

The relationship between the two clubs has stood the test of time. It has weathered the shifting tides of history and grown stronger over the years. At its heart lies not just a commitment to collaboration, but also a deep appreciation of one another’s culture and heritage.
