RC Manila Foundation: Stewarding Resources, Sustaining Service

President's Message

AS I prepare to assume the chairmanship of the Rotary Club of Manila Foundation, Inc. (RCMFI) on 1 July, it is both fitting and meaningful that today’s meeting is devoted to the Foundation’s Annual Report.

More than a routine presentation, this occasion provides an important opportunity for the membership of the Rotary Club of Manila -- and particularly the members of the Foundation -- to gain a deeper appreciation of the work being undertaken by the organization that serves as the financial backbone of many of the Club’s service initiatives.

The RCM Foundation occupies a unique and indispensable role within our institution. While the Club itself conceives and implements projects that respond to the needs of our communities, the Foundation helps ensure that these worthy endeavors have the resources necessary to succeed. Through prudent stewardship, sound financial management, and strategic support, the Foundation transforms generosity into meaningful and lasting impact.

Today, we recognize the accomplishments of the current officers and trustees of the Foundation, led by Chairman and Past District Governor Alex Cureg. Under their leadership, the Foundation has continued to fulfill its mandate with diligence and integrity. Their efforts have strengthened the Foundation’s capacity to support the Club’s various programs while safeguarding its assets for future generations of Rotarians.

The projects supported by the Foundation during the past year reflect Rotary’s enduring commitment to service above self. From educational and humanitarian initiatives to community development programs, the Foundation has played a vital role in enabling the Club to translate its vision into action. These projects have touched lives, created opportunities, and reinforced RCM’s reputation as a force for positive change.

Equally noteworthy are the ongoing preparations for the 4th RCM Cup on June 22, which has become RCMFI’s most significant yearly fund mobilization activity. The dedication and hard work invested in organizing this event demonstrate the Foundation’s commitment not only to fundraising but also to building partnerships, promoting fellowship, and expanding the Club’s capacity to serve. As final preparations move into high gear, the enthusiasm and cooperation of all those involved are deserving of recognition and appreciation.

As we review the Foundation’s achievements over the past year, we do so with profound gratitude for the officers, trustees, donors, and volunteers whose dedication and commitment have enabled the Foundation to fulfill its mission. Their collective efforts have ensured that the resources entrusted to the Foundation were managed responsibly and directed toward projects that advance RCM’s enduring commitment to service. Every scholarship granted, every community initiative supported, and all programs successfully implemented this Rotary year stand as a testament to their hard work and faithful stewardship.

At the same time, we look to the future with optimism and confidence.

The challenges confronting our communities continue to evolve, bringing with them new opportunities for Rotary to make a meaningful difference. As the service projects of the Club become more ambitious and far-reaching, the role of the Foundation becomes even more critical. Beyond providing financial support, RCMFI serves as a trusted platform through which the generosity of Rotarians and friends of Rotary is transformed into tangible and lasting impact. It is the bridge that connects resources with purpose, and goodwill with action.

The strength of RCM has always rested upon the willingness of its members to contribute not only their financial resources, but also their time, expertise, leadership, and passion in pursuit of a greater purpose. For more than a century, generations of Manila Rotarians have demonstrated that when individuals unite behind a common vision of service, extraordinary things can be accomplished. RCMFI remains a vital instrument in sustaining that tradition, ensuring that the Club possesses the capacity and stability necessary to carry out its mission for years to come.

As we embark on another Rotary year, let us reaffirm our commitment to strengthening the Foundation and expanding its ability to support projects that uplift lives and strengthen communities. Let us continue to cultivate a culture of generosity, accountability, and stewardship worthy of the trust placed in us by our members, partners, and beneficiaries.

Together, we will build upon the solid foundation laid by those who came before us, preserving their legacy while creating new opportunities to serve.

In doing so, we honor not only the achievements of the past year but also the enduring ideals of Rotary itself. Together, we will continue to build on this legacy of stewardship, service, and impact, ensuring that RCMFI remains a powerful force for good for the communities we serve today and for the generations that will follow.
