President’s Corner

President Bobby Joseph welcomes members to the eighth weekly membership meeting on Zoom and thanks the Rotary Club of Cebu, PP Roy Lotzof and the contributors for ES Anna Toledo.

Dear Fellow Manila Rotarians in Growth,

Welcome to the Eighth (8th) Weekly Membership Meeting on Zoom.! May God continue to bless, protect, keep us safe, positive and inspired. We have to be consistent in what we do to achieve greater heights while continuing to help the needy, the sick, the oppressed and, especially, the street children. We are Rotarians and we have to implement and protect our core values and what we stand for.

We thank the Rotary Club of Cebu for their wonderful cooperation and support to our Club. We are looking forward for joint projects to ensue. We thank PP Roy Lotzof for his sharing on the Four Way Test and how to reduce the cost of electrical consumption with zero investment while getting a percentage of the savings from the owners of factories, hotels, warehouses, colleges, universities, resorts, and others. Since our electricity is second highest in Asia, it is expected to get a positive response from the owners.

We are encouraging members to read carefully what we are sending as we want to be very transparent. Should there be any questions kindly email the Board. We shall be looking forward to your queries.

We thank the members who have contributed for ES Anna Toledo who is fighting for her life against the Covid-19. We are hoping that all RCM Members will contribute to the fund. Any excess shall be used for our employees who may need assistance from us. We shall get the approval of the Board and appoint a few members to be in charge of the fund.. PP Boy Guevara has agreed to be one of the members since he suggested this great proposal. Thank you PP Boy Guevara.

I thank the team led by Chair and PVP Hermie Esguera, ES Ana Toledo, PVP Chito Zaldarriaga, Star Rotarian Toby Rast, Director Albert Alday, PP Susing Pineda, BLA Amading Valdez. IPD Issam Eldebs and our technical team of Executive Assistants. Our Zoom Meeting has been improving every week. Our Classification Speakers have been well received and much appreciated.

I salute the officers and members of the Executive Board and the Ethics Committee for contributing significantly to protect and promote the non-partisan and non-sectarian ethical standard of the Four Way Test We expect all members to agree and support Rotary’s ideals and guiding principles with high ethical standards in business and the professions as an opportunity to serve society. We reiterate for every Rotarian to work with integrity and contribute their expertise to the problems and needs of society.

We shall be inviting more members to get involved and choose any of five (5) Avenues of Service. It is easy to participate since you will be contributing while in the comfort of your home. This will be an opportunity to help the community and meet other members through Zoom. We intend to invite the past presidents led by Archit Bartolome to sponsor a webinar once every six (6) months or every quarter.

During this pandemic, we have to be more appreciative, understanding and patient as millions of our countrymen are suffering because of fear of death, loss of jobs and not having money to feed the family. I heard that many are depressed and require assistance from professionals. We pray that airlines, hotels, resorts and transportation will be able to resuscitate when the time comes as billions have been lost. We pray for our government to be able to afford granting the poor and the jobless assistance and financial support.

As Rotarians we have to fervently uphold the Four Way Test and live with integrity. We cannot allow anyone to be a threat that may be inimical to the existence of RCM.

Thank you and Mabuhay! May God bring prosperity, peace, harmony, happiness, good health and long life!

“Life becomes simple when you love God. Be God’s disciple.”
