Fanboying with a Powerful Popstar Pair

Club Secretary Reggie Yu writes of his admiration for Sarah Geronimo and Matteo Guidicelli, whom he was personally introduced to.

Fanboying with a Powerful Popstar Pair
“The smarter the woman is, the more difficult it is to find the right man.” — Sarah Geronimo

From among the constellation of millennial stars that clutter the firmament of the Philippine entertainment industry, perhaps no one has enthralled me more than Sarah Geronimo, known by her millions of fans as the country’s “Pop Star Princess.” Having been in the entertainment industry for most of her life, her talent sets her apart from other artists in her niche.

Sarah G’s mastery of her craft and constant re-invention of her image from pop ingenue to R&B icon has allowed her to set record-breaking milestones in music, stage and film. And the number of awards she received throughout her career manifests the incomparable personality of her voice and the irresistible freshness of her acting that exudes her good comic sport: the 15 Awit Awards, 8 Aliw awards, 28 Myx Music Awards (the most in the award's history) and a FAMAS (award) Golden Artist Award, 55 Platinum and 6 Diamond Record Awards in a span of 15 years, selling more than a million albums say it all.

Today, she's bigger than ever before; she has gone from strength to strength, starring in more than 10 Filipino feature films, releasing more than 13 albums, sits as a sought-after judge on “The Voice of the Philippines” and has recently broken greater sales records with her concert, “Unified,” on Valentine’s Day 2019 with acclaimed music diva, Ms. Regine Velasquez-Alcasid together for the first time.

Complementing her already star-status is the support from her long-time beau (and now husband), Matteo Guidicelli, a celebrated and multi-awarded Italian-Filipino actor, model, karting driver, soldier, triathlete and singer.

Which is why I consider myself extremely honored and fortunate to have been personally introduced to this newly-married couple. Having been avidly following their careers since they both burst out in the entertainment scene, I share their countless fans’ support for their relationship. After all, their “happily-ever-after” gives hope to those of us who have to deal with challenges like strict parents, prying eyes, and demanding careers — things that can make finding true love feel impossible.

Truly, if there’s one phrase that can be used to describe Sarah, it’s from her hit-single “Tala”: “Ang ningning ng yong mga mata'y nahanap ko sa mga tala...”
