The November 30, 2023 meeting became a music-filled tribute to the late George Canseco Sr., with invited artists and the RCM Chorale.

20th Weekly Membership Meeting: A Recap

Program Moderator

The unique and musically charged weekly membership meeting had Rtn. Robi Joseph as Program Moderator who, with his affable style and wit, successfully steered the program with memorable song numbers.

Call to Order

Sounding the bell, Pres. Rafael “Raffy” M. Alunan III called the 20th weekly membership meeting to order.

Invocation

With a beautifully written prayer, PD Issam Eldebs led the invocation for the membership.

Philippine National Anthem / RCM Hymn

Rotary Members and guests took a position of respect as they sang the Philippine National Anthem. This was followed by the singing of the RCM Hymn.

The Rotary Club of Manila Hymn and Welcome Song

The “World Famous” RCM Chorale led the singing of the Rotary Club of Manila Hymn and the Welcome Song, to the delight of the guests in attendance.

President’s Time

To give way and more time for the much-awaited musical numbers, President Raffy opted to forgo with the usual allotted time for him to address the Club.

The Life Story of the Late George Canseco Sr.

An AVP of the awe-inspiring life story of the late George Canseco Sr. was shown before the singing of the invited artists.

Canseco’s Enduring Contribution to Rotary: The Philippine Rotary Hymn

An enduring legacy of the late George Canseco Sr., himself a Rotarian and Past President of RC Kamuning, is his beautifully composed Philippine Rotary Hymn. As a tribute to the musical genius, the World Famous RCM Chorale sang the hymn during the program.

Serenade Time

One of the highlights of the program was the performance of invited guests as a tribute to Maestro Canseco, and to relive his timeless music and songs.

Rotarians and guests were pleasantly surprised by the impromptu song numbers of international celebrity David Pomeranz. The enchanting evening indeed became more magical with his soulful and enchanting vocals reverberating in the meeting venue. Another surprise visitor, Mr. Stanley Engle, a Rotarian from Oklahoma and a musician himself, joined David. The two rocked the house with their impromptu collaboration of the Beatles’ classic ‘Get Back.’

Martin Nievera’s captivating singing performance stole the spotlight, becoming a highly anticipated and unforgettable moment that left the audience swooning in admiration.

Gift from a Visiting Rotarian and Musician

Aside from showcasing his musical talent during the program, Rotarian Stanley Engle (RC of Abilene, Kansas, USA) also presented some tokens to the Rotary Club of Manila, through Pres. Rafael Alunan. Witnessing the hand-over of the token is Governor-Elect Jackie C. Rodriguez (Chairman, Program Committee).

Adjournment

After thanking all the attendees, guests, and performers, the meeting was adjourned by Pres. Raffy Alunan.

Tokens of Appreciation

For gracing the event and lending their musical talents, the invited performers were acknowledged and presented with Certificates of Appreciation.

Finale Song

As a finale, the RCM World Famous Chorale, together with the invited artists, sang one of the most iconic song composed by the late George Canseco Sr. – AKO AY PILIPINO.

It was not just a membership meeting, but a music-filled fellowship night.
