Let Us Wash Our Hands
The Editor-in-Chief urges support for the WASH Committee's hand hygiene project at the Mithing Pangarap Montessori School in Tondo on December 9.

It is said that if you wash your hands of someone or something, you refuse to be involved with them or to take responsibility for them. In other words, if you wash your hands of something that you were previously responsible for, you intentionally stop being involved in it or connected with it in any way.
This is not the kind of washing of hands that we want to pursue and promote. Instead, the Rotary Club of Manila’s WASH Committee seeks to propagate and radiate to communities and partner schools the importance and proper way of hand washing.
Aside from constructing washing stations (the Committee has already identified two elementary schools in Tondo, Manila), there is also a purposive intent to roll out the WASH Education (WASHed) component. This involves teaching children proper hand hygiene.

An exciting development about our Club’s pursuit to instill proper hygiene among school children is that the WASH Committee and the Oral Hygiene Committee (led by its hardworking Chairman John Cutter) have joined forces to incorporate oral health and hygiene in the orientation.
On Saturday, December 9, our Community Oral Health, as well as the WASH Committee hand hygiene awareness education materials distribution will be held at the Mithing Pangarap Montessori School in Tondo. It will be at two o’clock in the afternoon, which hopefully will be supported by Manila Rotarians. The Rotaract Club of Manila is proudly joining and supporting the project, together with several other Rotaract Clubs.
Let us not wash our hands of this project, but fully support this initiative on proper hand washing.
