RCM Faces Judges at the Philippine Rotary Media Foundation, Inc.’s Search for the Most Outstanding Environmental Project Final Judging Session
IPP Hermie Esguerra presented the Pasig River clean-up and rehabilitation project to the National Judging Session panel at The Palms Country Club.

This afternoon at The Palms Country Club, IPP Hermie Esguerra, assisted by IS Aries Balanay and Rotary Balita's Editorial Consultant Ms. Rhea Vitto Tabora, presented the "Reviving Pasig River Using Floating Trash Barriers (Pasig River Clean-up and Rehabilitation Project)" to the National Judging Session Panel of Judges.
The National Judging Session panel is composed of the following:
1. Mr. Alexander “Alex” B. Cabrera, Chairman Emeritus and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Leader of PwC. He is also the Chairman of the Integrity Initiative Inc.
2. Mr. Emmanuel “Manny” de Guzman. He is a former Commissioner and concurrent Vice-Chairperson and Executive Director (department secretary) of the Philippine Climate Change Commission. He served as Senior Advisor for Disaster Risk Reduction at the World Meteorological Organization and consultant at the UNDRR in Geneva, Switzerland and as Senior Regional Expert for Disaster Risk Management at the ASEAN Secretariat in 2006 and 2013. These are only some of his more than 28 years of work experience in climate and disaster risk reduction and humanitarian action at national and international levels.
3. PDG Edna Sutter (Chairperson of the Awards), Rotary International’s The Rotary Foundation Major Gift Initiative Adviser on Environment for Rotary Years 2023-2026. She is the CEO and President of DDC Land, Inc.
4. PDG Dwight Hilarion “Dwight” Ramos, Commissioner, National Solid Waste Management Commission (NSWMC). He is also the Legal Officer of the Solid Waste Management Association of the Philippines.
5. Atty. Juan Miguel “Mitch” Cuna, DENR Undersecretary for Field Operations for Luzon, Visayas and Environment
IPP Hermie delivered a concise report supported by an audiovisual presentation, and the team adeptly responded to all questions from the judges regarding the project. The 25-minute session was a rigorous test for our club and the entire district since our project was the district winner.
The winners of the Most Outstanding Environmental Project will be announced during the award ceremony on June 29, 2024, at The Palms Country Club in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
