AS we gather today to celebrate RCMFI Day, we are reminded of the enduring legacy of the RCManila Foundation, Inc. (RCMFI), the fund-raising arm of the Rotary Club of Manila. Since its inception on December 6, 1978, RCMFI has been a beacon of hope and transformation, embodying the Rotary spirit of service above self. Established as a non-stock, non-profit organization in February 1979, RCMFI continues to stand at the forefront of social and economic advancement, fostering goodwill and responding to the needs of the underprivileged with purpose and compassion.

Over the years, RCMFI has remained steadfast in its mission to serve as the implementing arm of the Rotary Club of Manila, driving impactful programs in education, healthcare, and community development. Its focus on disease prevention and treatment, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy, and community economic development aligns seamlessly with Rotary International’s areas of focus. These initiatives — ranging from scholarships for marginalized students to life-saving medical assistance, and from livelihood programs to disaster relief — highlight the foundation’s commitment to addressing the needs of society’s most vulnerable.

A significant milestone in RCMFI’s journey has been the establishment of its sustainable capital fund. With a goal of Php 10 million by 2028, the foundation has already set aside Php 1 million and is on track to raise an additional Php 2 million this Rotary Year. Initiatives like the Trust Endowment Program exemplify innovative philanthropy, offering donors flexible and meaningful ways to contribute to transformative projects. These funds are not just financial reserves; they are investments in a brighter future for communities in need.

RCMFI’s recent accomplishments are a testament to the dedication and vision of its members. From the successful relief operations during Typhoons Kristine and Carina to the distribution of wheelchairs in Sta. Rosa, Nueva Ecija, and San Juan City, and from the turnover of molecular laboratory equipment to the Philippine Orthopedic Center to the collaborative pilot project with PETA Asia Pacific, these initiatives demonstrate the foundation’s broad impact. Notably, the Hospicio de San Jose “Essence Art Exhibit” raised over Php 1 million, showcasing the power of art and generosity in advancing humanitarian causes.

As RCMFI looks ahead, collaboration remains key. Strengthening ties with the Rotary Club of Manila, doubling membership, and hosting fundraising events like the 3rd RCM-RCMFI Golf Cup are strategic steps toward achieving its ambitious goals. The foundation’s adherence to compliance standards, as affirmed by the commendation from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), further cements its credibility and commitment to transparency.

RCMFI Day is not just a celebration — it is a call to action. It is an invitation for Rotarians and supporters to deepen their engagement, contribute to the Trust Endowment Program, and champion the foundation’s vision of sustainable service. Together, we can ensure that RCMFI continues to be a catalyst for positive change, touching lives and transforming communities for generations to come.
