RCM - RCMFI Reading Literacy Teacher Training Project

Our first RCM reading teacher training was held on March 1, 2025 at Jose Rizal Elementary School (JRES) in Pasay City. This school serves approximately 2,000 students from Kindergarten to Grade 6. From our initial meeting, we learned that many of their students are reading 2-5 years below their grade level. Sadly, this is a common situation in public schools across the Philippines.

This reading gap tends to widen as students move through the grades, leaving them struggling in high school with reading and comprehension skills equivalent to a third or fourth grader.

The Department of Education has given us a "go" on the teacher training that will be conducted on March 22, 2025 at the Maahas Elementary School. A total of 13 schools will be sending teachers to the free reading training.
