Dr. GLENN BANAGUAS

Glenn is a world‑ renowned science diplomat, multi‑ awarded scientist, and ESG expert whose pioneering work spans environmental stewardship, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and disaster risk reduction.

Widely recognized as the Father of Asian Science Diplomacy and the Guru of Resiliency and Sustainability, he leads transformative initiatives that integrate scientific modeling, participatory mechanisms, and evidence‑based policymaking to address complex environmental challenges, estimate GHG emissions, implement net‑zero strategies, and ensure ethical AI‑driven solutions.

He is a UN Sasakawa Laureate for DRR, Bibliotheca Alexandrina Laureate, Kindness & Leadership 50 Leading Lights Awardee. Glenn holds fellowships with the Geneva Centre for Security Policy, the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, the Royal Society of Arts, and the US‑ASEAN Science and Technology Program, while actively engaging with Chatham House.

His work has been supported by The Royal Society, The World Academy of Sciences, and Environmental Defense Fund, earning him accolades such as Asia’s Top 100 Scientists, Asia’s Sustainability Leader, GWP Water Changemaker, ASEAN Champions for Biodiversity, and The Rockefeller Foundation Food System Vision Prize – Special Mention Award.

Honored as The Outstanding Filipino Laureate, Climate Change Hero, and a Men & Women of Science honoree, among other distinctions. He serves as an advisor to the World Bank’s Climate Finance, UNDP's GEF and Climate Security Program, UNEP's HFC Life Cycle Management, UNCCD's LDN Programs, and GGGI's CCA-DRR Projects.

He is an IPCC Expert Reviewer, a Member of the EU-Asia Expert Panel for Climate Diplomacy & Environmental Security, Chairman of the US-ASEAN S&T Fellows, and Trustee of Statweather Institute, recognized as the world's leading climate technology and data services company. He contributes to the APN Advisory Committee.

As Chairman of Asian Science Diplomacy initiative, Glenn empowers policymakers, educators, decision-makers, and community leaders to bridge science and governance and champion inclusive, evidence-based solutions.

As Founder of the Environmental & Climate Change Research Institute and its "Climate Smart Philippines: Science for Service" program, he advances actionable strategies rooted in science and service. He studied Climate Change & Energy at Harvard Kennedy School, Sustainability Leadership at Yale University, Public Transportation Systems at MIT, Applied Remote Sensing at NASA, and Peacebuilding at the US Institute of Peace, further strengthening his global expertise.
