In October 1923 President Charles Russell Zeininger convened prominent Manila residents to establish the Manila Boy Scout Council. On December 27 the Boy Scouts of America recognized it as Philippine Islands Council No. 545.

The Rotary Club of Cebu was organized in November 1932 during Theodore L. Hall's presidency, extending Rotary's presence in the Philippines. The Iloilo club followed in April 1933.

Arsenio N. Luz became the Club's first Filipino president
Arsenio Nicasio K. Luz, a journalist and Manila Carnival director, was the first Filipino to lead the Club. He launched the Manila Beautiful project to improve Luneta and Dewey Boulevard.

The Rotary Club of Iloilo was organized in April 1933, a few months after the Cebu club, during Theodore L. Hall's presidency.

As the Club's youngest president, Gil J. Puyat led work that helped disadvantaged boys, fire victims and children who needed eyeglasses.

The Club held its last prewar meeting on Corregidor
President Hugo H. Miller's term was cut short by the war. The Club's final 1941 meeting took place on Corregidor, where General Douglas MacArthur became an honorary member.

The Club ceased formal operations under the Japanese occupation
During the occupation the Club stopped all formal activity and its records were deliberately burned.

The Club was readmitted to Rotary International with Charter No. 478
Led again by Gil J. Puyat, the Club rejoined Rotary International with 50 charter members and kept its original charter number. With P10,000 from Rotary International and supplies donated by Philadelphia Rotarians, it helped members and their families rebuild.

Under President Manuel B. Lim the Club ran a public courtesy campaign with 15,000 posters and welcomed an official visit from Rotary International President S. Kendrick Guernsey.

In Cornelio A. Balmaceda's year the Club donated 102 pairs of eyeglasses and ran disability placement, beautification and scholarship work. Meetings returned to the Manila Hotel and the Club earned the district governor's trophy.

On January 15, 1949 the Board of Directors voted unanimously, on the recommendation of the Philippine Safety Council, that the Club be one of the sponsors for the creation of the National Traffic Commission.

During Benito F. Legarda's year the Club donated equipment for polio patients at San Lazaro Hospital, set up a playground in La Loma and gave aid to Filipino troops in Korea and to bereaved military families.

At the "Press Week" meeting on 27 February 1969, Juan L. The panel of judges was chaired by Supreme Court Associate Justice Fred Ruiz Castro.

After five weeks of torrential rain, the Club met presidents of Rotary clubs around Laguna de Bay in August 1972 and heard first-hand reports of the flooding. Operation Pakikiramay was its relief and aid project for flood victims in Central and Southern Luzon, run with the cooperation of Rotary clubs in the affected areas.

Officials of the Bureau of Posts met the Club about the distribution and sale of the Rotary 75th Anniversary commemorative stamps. The Bureau presented first day covers and stamps as a souvenir to the Club through President Francisco Ortigas III.

After the earthquake of 16 July 1990, the Club established a "Tent City" in Burnham Park, Baguio for 250 families and sent medical teams to the devastated areas. It raised ₱8 million for relief and rehabilitation.

The Rotary Club of Manila honored eight 2026 Journalism Pro Patria honorees, from Vlogger of the Year to Online Individual Journalist of the Year.

The 2026 honorees came from manufacturing and engineering and were recognized for innovations in productivity, sustainability, ergonomics and efficiency. The Balita also traced the awards back to 1976, when ten outstanding Filipino workers were recognized.
